There are a variety of terms or labels that are used by psychics to let you know how they do what they do...
A Psychic is sensitive to the electrical, magnetic and other energies emanating from the individual and known as the aura. A psychic is able to access information from the emotional, physical and spiritual parts of the auric field. As the aura contains all the information about a person's life, psychic readings can be very accurate. A psychic also uses the natural ability to be aware of non-verbal communication i.e... Body language, facial expression, dress sense etc
Remember all psychics do not have the same skills.
Mediums are psychics that can talk to the dead. They often hear and see spirits that have passed over to the other side. Their specialty is being able to bring messages from the dead to the living. Their focus is to help those alive through the grieving process let go of fear of death and help them resolve issues with the dead loved ones.
Each Medium operates differently and accesses information from different vantage points. Characteristically information can come in as pictures or sequences with which the Medium has learned to sort out as their personal code or system.
Examples: John Edwards, Laurie Campbell, James Van Prague.
Clairvoyance is translated as extrasensory sight or perception. When a psychic uses this word it is meant to mean that they can see what will be happening in the future as a vision or perception.
Examples of Clairvoyants: Kenny Kingston, Tamara Hawk
Clairaudience means that the person is able to hear things from the other side or spirit realm. This term, translated from French, means to use the faculty of supra-normal hearing. Sometimes this means that they can talk to dead people but other times it means that they can hear the angels or guides. It can also mean that information comes to them through their auditory channel.
Examples of Clairaudients: Rebecca Kurtz, Charles Fort
Clairgustant is translated as extrasensory taste or tasting of a person. When a psychic uses this word it is meant to mean that they can pick up the flavours and tastes of the spirit/entity.
Clairfactory is translated as extrasensory smelling. When a psychic uses this word it is meant to mean that they can pick up scents, smells and fragrances of the spirit/entity or place.
Clairsentient is translated as extrasensory sensing. When a psychic uses this word it is meant to mean that they can sense the energies of the spirit/entity or place.
Channeling means that the psychic is channeling information through their inner senses. This can mean they see, hear or feel the information. It often refers to talking or communicating with the guides and translating that information to the client.
Examples of Channels: Sylvia Brown, Bart Smit
A Trans-channel is a person who leaves their body and allows another being or entity into their body and the information is being directly channelled through the being by them inhabiting the trans-channel’s body. This often means that the trans-channel has little or no awareness about what is being said. The being that is channelled is often more concerned with the spiritual progress of the individual being read and is less concerned about the future projections and fortune telling.
Examples: Edgar Cayce, J.Z. Knight, Dale Carley
