Beltane marks the start of summer and in the northern hemisphere it is celebrated on the 1st of May or the 1st of November in the Southern Hemisphere. It is seen as the marriage day of the God and Goddess and is primarily a fertility festival.
It is celebrated in Song and verse with offerings made to the wildlings and Elementals. It is a time of great magic with the elves and faeries energy going to reach it’s height at Summer Solstice. It is also a good time for divinations and creating a woodland shrine. It is also a important day to honour and pay homage to the guardians of your house or family.
November (May in Nth Hemisphere) is seen as a month of Sexual freedom in honour of the Great Mother and Horned God of the Woodlands. Trial marriages of a year and one day could be contracted at this time. If unworkable , partners simply went their separate ways.
Green is worn at this time to honour the Earth mother.
So make this a day where you have yourself a fire and feast to the God and Goddess and their union...
